In general there are two kinds of ways to address toxic traits and behaviors.
- If it is harassment that requires reporting (see policy here), we report it to the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX at 785-864-6414, civilrights@ku.edu. Usually, though not required, is to also notify the chair, one of the department officers, or Kristin.
- If reporting is not required, best practice is to notify anyone the person harassed finds trustworthy, this can be faculty, staff, specifically the office staff, or even peers. Usually it eventually gets to the chair, who will decide whether to discuss this with the harasser or take other mitigating action.
