Undergraduate Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics
The astrophysics group at KU is the largest in the state of Kansas, and the only group doing research in observational astronomy.
Why do research in astrophysics?
Students get hands-on research experience working with data from world-class facilities like NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to identify supermassive black holes in the early universe, or explore the atmospheres of distant planets around other stars. KU astronomy students attend national and international conferences, win prestigious fellowships, and are admitted to top graduate programs.
