Leeds & Northrup Resistance Standard

A resistor with a resistance value of precisely 0.1 ohms, used for calibration or educational demonstrations. This resistor is unusually large to allow it to handle large currents (up to 15 amps for this resistor).

Figure 2: Leeds & Northrup Resistance Standard.

A resistor with a resistance value of precisely 0.1 ohms, used for calibration or educational demonstrations. This resistor is unusually large to allow it to handle large currents (up to 15 amps for this resistor). Despite its large size, this is actually one of the lowest-rated large-current resistance standards manufactured by Leeds & Northrup--as of 1925 they were selling (lower-resistance) standards rated for up to 3000 amps.
