Biography —
Caitlin Rochford Friedman is a Senior Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM. She uses her physics and materials science background to tackle advanced microelectronics hardware research challenges alongside a highly interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. Prior to that she was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Sandia in the Nanoscale Science Department developing nanomaterials for thermal management applications. At Sandia Caitlin is active in the Sandia Women’s Action Network, an organization that serves as an advocate and resource for the women of Sandia with the goal of addressing implicit gender bias as a barrier to inclusion. She is also active in an initiative to expand peer-to-peer mentoring at the labs.
Before coming to Sandia, Caitlin received her PhD in Physics in 2012 from the University of Kansas, where she was a NSF Graduate Research Fellow, and her BS in Physics and Applied Mathematics in 2007 from Saint Louis University where she was a NOAA Hollings Scholar. She spends her free time hiking, attempting drought-tolerant gardening, and chasing around her 1 and 3 year old sons.
